What is your favorite part of being a teacher?

My favorite part of being a teacher is being able to interact with the students. I always look forward to class each week! My students are always eager to participate. During this difficult time, teaching and talking to my students reminds me to look at the bright side. I appreciate how curious all of them are.

What do you enjoy about teaching here at YAPA Kids?

Along with talking to the students, I enjoy working with the other teachers to plan curriculum and teach classes. Though most of us have never actually met, we have found a way to collaborate and do our best for the students. Since I joined YAPA Kids, I have met so many helpful, commited people who are always willing to work together.

What have you learned from teaching kids/at YAPA Kids?

I have learned so much about how to keep students engaged. Long lectures are not only hard to understand, but can often be boring. I have learned to include practice questions and games at various points during class to keep students attentive and excited to learn. I have also learned a lot about how to further spread our mission. As a part of the Team Expansion team, I was given the opportunity to contact news organizations and I was even able to write a news release!
